Asian Games: Yulo brothers reach floor apparatus finals; Carlos eyes more gold in vault, parallel bars - GMA Network

Carlos and Eldrew Yulo will fight for the gold in the men's floor exercise event of the 2026 Asian Games after they both advanced to the finals on Monday in Japan.

The older Yulo topped the floor in the preliminary round after scoring an impressive 14.600 points in the same event where he won a gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics, while the 18-year-old Asiad debutant Eldrew posted 13.966 points to rank fourth to advance as well.

Carlos has also advanced to two more finals after reaching the medal rounds of both the vault and the parallel bars after scoring 13.649 (7th) and 14.266 (6th), respectively. The 26-year-old Carlos made it to the vault finals despite stumbling on his landing during his first jump attempt.

Meanwhile, Eldrew narrowly missed the top eight in the horizontal bar with a score of 13.433 to finish ninth. However, he still clinched a spot in the apparatus final after China exceeded the two-gymnast limit.

Another Filipino gymnast will see action in the finals with Miguel Besana emerging fourth in the vault with a score of 13.933 points.

The floor finals is set on Thursday while the vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar finals are all scheduled on Friday.
