At 81, this Gurugram dadi is still travelling, working and living life her way
An 81-year-old grandmother from Gurugram is still filling her calendar with travel, work and social plans, and she has no intention of slowing down. From taking a cruise to Alaska to running her business, she continues to lead a life that keeps her granddaughter wondering how she manages it all.
Mehar Toor, an entrepreneur, shared an Instagram video introducing her ‘OG Sherni’ grandmother to the viewers. The clip showed the two chatting casually, while Mehar asked her grandmother about her latest adventures.
“Let me introduce to you my 81-year-old grandmother. She is a businesswoman, an avid traveller still at the age of 81. What's up, Dadi?” Mehar said at the beginning of the video.
“I’m fine, how are you?” her grandmother replied.
When Mehar asked what she had been doing lately, the conversation soon turned to travel. Her grandmother revealed that she recently went on a cruise to Alaska.
“I have really enjoyed it,” she added. “At 81 years old?” Mehar asked, clearly impressed.
“Yeah, because I feel fully confident I can, you know, go anywhere,” her grandmother explained. Mehar then told her, “You also look 22 years old,” before asking what advice she would give younger people.
Her grandmother did not offer a complicated formula. Instead, she spoke about finding a balance between ambition and enjoying life.
“I say that they should enjoy their life. They should work, they should work hard, and eat good food. At the same time, they should look after themselves,” she said.
“The OG Sherni – My 81-year-old grandmother is more active than I am – she lives alone, continues to travel the world, has an endless calendar of kitty parties and a spirit you can spot from a mile away. And that’s what Sherni is to me – it’s someone who refuses to give up or slow down even when ‘society’ expects you to,” Mehar Toor wrote in the caption.
The video drew warm reactions from viewers, many of whom admired the 81-year-old’s energy and independent spirit.
Her simple advice also resonated with people who saw it as a reminder that working hard and enjoying life do not have to be mutually exclusive.- EndsPublished By: Srimoyee ChowdhuryPublished On: Sep 20, 2026 14:51 IST
