At least 11 injured in shooting at Turkish high school

At least 11 people have been injured in a shooting outside a high school in Turkey after an attacker opened fire before fleeing the scene.

The incident happened at the Inci Uzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Turkey's western province of Manisa at about 08:00 local time (05:00 GMT) on Tuesday.

The attacker has since been detained, according to the local governor's office.

Local media reported that two of the victims taken to hospital were in critical conditions.

CCTV footage posted online appeared to show a male on a street near the school carrying a firearm, with other clips apparently showing him fleeing still carrying the weapon.

The motive behind the attack was not immediately clear.

It has been reported in Turkish media that the gunman is a 15-year-old student, though that has not been officially confirmed.

In a statement, Turkey's education ministry said the incident had "deeply saddened our nation, and our educational community in particular".

It said that three national investigators from the ministry had been sent to Manisa.
