Balochistan imposes Section 144 along N-25

The Balochistan government has imposed Section 144 for three months in Sorab, Khuzdar and Wadh against protests and road blockades on the N-25 National Highway. Advisor to the Balochistan Interior Department Babar Yousafzai said Section 144 has been enforced on the N-25 National Highway in these areas to prevent protests, sit-ins and any obstruction to traffic flow. Ensuring uninterrupted movement on national highways remains among the top priorities of the Balochistan government. Closure of the N-25 causes severe hardships for patients, passengers, traders and transporters. Effective measures are being taken to end public inconvenience and keep traffic flowing smoothly. Relevant district administrations and police have been directed to ensure strict implementation of Section 144. The rule of law and maintenance of peace will be upheld at all costs. The Balochistan government remains committed to public convenience, security and uninterrupted traffic on national highways. Meanwhile, Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langau has taken notice of the matter concerning Dr Sonia Noor and ordered a clean and transparent investigation. Advisor to the Balochistan Interior Department Babar Yousafzai said the minister took cognisance of the press conference held by Dr Sonia Noor at Quetta Press Club the previous day and directed that a fair and transparent probe be conducted. Issuing instructions to fulfil all legal requirements of justice, the Interior Minister stated that the Balochistan government is committed to the supremacy of law and provision of justice. Facts must be brought to light through a transparent investigation into Dr Sonia Noor's case. Injustice to any citizen will not be tolerated, and action must be taken in accordance with the law. According to Babar Yousafzai, the minister's decision to take notice and order legal proceedings marks an important step towards ensuring justice. All legal formalities will be completed and a transparent investigation ensured in the matter.
