Bears PFF grades: Best, worst performers in Week 4 win vs. Jets - Bears Wire
The Chicago Bears had an impressive 23-12 win over the New York Jets on Sunday, where the final score wasn't indicative of how dominant Chicago was on offense and defense to improve to 3-1.
Chicago's offensive performance was one of the most historic in franchise history, where the team had more first downs (34) than the Jets had total plays (32), which also made it an easy day at the office for the defense. The Bears didn't put up as many points as they could've having controlled the ball on offense for over 42 minutes, but the dominance they displayed from start to finish is one that showcases head coach Ben Johnson's fingerprints all over the game.
There were a number of good and bad performances in this dominant win. Here are the best and worst performers, according to Pro Football Focus:
Darnell Wright continues to display his dominance as one of the top right tackles in the NFL, but the biggest standout on the list is tight end Sam Roush. The rookie tight end has had a rough couple of first weeks to begin the season, but ended the game against New York with 1 reception for 8 yards, and excelled in the run game. Rome Odunze also had his best game of the young season, leading the team in receiving with 6 receptions and 94 yards in the win.
D'Andre Swift was the most surprising, and disappointment during the win on Sunday, finding himself on the sidelines following a fumble in the second half. Kalif Raymond had been one of the most reliable sources of production in the passing game over the first three weeks, and his lack of production was in big part to the success of Rome Odunze and Luther Burden.
One of the biggest positives for the Bears defense this season has been the return of Dayo Odeyingbo from his Achilles injury, and how he's been able to cause havoc on opposing quarterbacks. Marcus Davenport was elevated to the active roster for the first time this season and created plenty of pressure to get his name atop the list.
There shouldn't be much reason for concern on this list, mainly because the Bears defense spent just over 17 minutes of game time on the field. Montez Sweat had his worst production of the year so far, totaling just one tackle and did not record a sack. Even with the players being graded low, Chicago's defense received plenty of praise for how rough they made life for quarterback Geno Smith in the limited time that the Jets were on offense.
