Belagavi students trained by zilla panchayat get into premier institutions

Some students from across Belagavi’s government colleges, who were trained under the zilla panchayat’s ‘CET-Saksham’ module, have secured admission to IITs and medical colleges under the government quota. As many as eight students from various government PU colleges in the district achieved excellent ranks in the current year’s JEE and NEET examinations.
Rahul Shinde, ZP CEO, has congratulated the students, their teachers and the ZP staff that conducted training sessions and mock tests under the ‘CET-Saksham’ for the 2024-25 academic year.
Partha Akkole and Srihantha Bangari, students of the Government Pre-University College at Majalatti in Chikkodi Taluk, have been admitted to IIT Dhanbad (Jharkhand) and IIT Rourkela (Odisha), respectively.
Srushti Dasar and Varsha Gadad from the Government PU College in Bailhongal secured admissions to medical colleges in Shivamogga and Kalaburagi.
Four students from the Government Pre-University College in Majalatti, Chikkodi taluk, have secured medical seats: Lakshmi Badiger in the government medical college in Karwar, Priya Maradi to Sridevi Medical College in Tumakuru, Pushpa Obannavar to the government medical college in Chamarajanagar, and Keerthi Karikatti to BMCRI Medical College in Bengaluru.
Since the 2024-25 academic year, the ZP has been organising offline mock CET exams. These 80-mark consolidated exams (20 marks per subject) are conducted via OMR sheets — on the second Saturday of every month for I PU students and on the fourth Saturday for II PU students from government colleges. Results are announced the following Monday, and online doubt-clearing sessions are organized on Tuesdays.
In the 2025-26 academic year, as an upgraded component of the programme, an entrance exam was conducted for science students of the Government Pre-University Science College, Majalatti, and the Government Pre-University Science College, Bailahongala. Based on the results, the best students were selected for the Super-50 programme.
Under the ‘Super-500’ programme, a select group of 100 students received specialised capacity-building training to effectively prepare for the NEET and JEE examinations. As part of this training, students regularly took offline mock tests using OMR sheets, simulating the actual exam format.
In addition to the mock test training, a campus visit to IIT Dharwad was organised on November 18, 2025. During the visit, students attended a guidance session and participated in practical training sessions.
