BEML Mysuru unveils 60-tonne Electric Dump Truck for mining operations

BEML Limited on Wednesday unveiled India’s first indigenously designed and developed 60-tonne Electric Dump Truck, the BH60-EV, at its Mysuru complex, marking a significant milestone in the development of high-capacity electric mobility solutions for the mining and infrastructure sectors.
The next-generation electric dump truck was virtually launched by Shantanu Roy, CMD, BEML Limited, in the presence of functional directors, senior officers and employees. The launch marks another significant step in BEML’s journey towards developing advanced, sustainable and technology-driven solutions for heavy industry, according to BEML.
“The BH60-EV, designed and developed at BEML’s Mysuru complex, combines high payload capability with advanced electric powertrain technology and operator-focused engineering, while delivering zero tailpipe emissions during operation. The vehicle is built to meet the demanding requirements of mining and infrastructure operations while supporting the shift towards cleaner, more efficient and sustainable mobility,” a press release said.
BEML also offers a complete charging station solution designed to be compatible with site electrical infrastructure and scalable for fleet operations. “This integrated approach enables customers to adopt electric heavy-duty equipment with a charging ecosystem tailored to their operational requirements. The BH60-EV is designed to deliver 40–60% lower operating costs compared with conventional diesel-powered equipment, while enabling an estimated annual reduction of around 130 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per vehicle, subject to operating conditions,” the release added.
Mr. Shantanu Roy, said: “The BH60-EV marks a significant milestone in BEML’s journey towards next-generation electric mobility for heavy industry. With indigenous engineering, advanced battery technology and a strong focus on performance, safety and sustainability, we are creating solutions that can support both industrial productivity and the transition towards a cleaner future.”
The BH60-EV builds on BEML’s growing electric vehicle portfolio and follows the launch of its 35-ton Electric Dump Truck on April 10, 2026.
