Ben Johnson shares update on Bears QB Caleb Williams injury - Bears Wire

Chicago Bears fans feared the worst when quarterback Caleb Williams went down awkwardly during Sunday's 9-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, but they received good news Monday morning when NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported the injury wasn't anything serious and the team isn't even ruling him out yet for Week 3. While the news is the best-case scenario, Williams still may miss some time while recovering.

Head coach Ben Johnson spoke with Bears radio play-by-play announcer Jeff Joniak during their weekly hit on ESPN 1000 and said he considers Williams week to week. "It sounds like it's going to be a week-to-week deal for him," Johnson said. "I have to still talk with the trainer; we'll do that here shortly, but it sounds like it's going to be week to week, and he'll likely miss some time."

The amount of time Williams will miss is still up in the air. Johnson has labeled players as week to week in the past, and they have missed just a few days of practice. It's not out of the realm that Williams misses just one game, but more information will be available later in the day. Still, it's very good news for the Bears and Williams as they look to rebound from Sunday's loss. Quarterback Tyson Bagent would get the start on Monday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles if Williams cannot go.

Prior to leaving with the injury, Williams completed 15 of 26 passes for 138 yards and an interception.
