Bengaluru: Assistant drug controller suspended in counterfeit drug case

The Department of Health and Family Welfare suspended Omkareshwar, Assistant Drug Controller from Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA), Chamarajpet, on Monday.

According to the officials of the Health Department, Omkareshwar failed to inspect the counterfeit drugs at Krupa Healthcare located at Minerva circle in Chamarajpet jurisdiction. They also stated that he has failed to take appropriate action against the distributor.

The Special Investigation Team of the Bengaluru police and Food Safety and the Drug Administration department recently arrested the owner of Krupa Healthcare, Veeresh Jain, for allegedly involved in supplying fake medicines to hospitals, medical stores, and clinics.

Investigators said Jain supplied counterfeit cancer drugs, life saving medicines, and ICU injections to more than 90 hospitals and clinics in the city at a discount of 50%.
