Bengaluru man delivered Swiggy orders 9 years ago. Now, he runs a seafood joint
A Bengaluru-based entrepreneur has shared a throwback to his days as a Swiggy delivery partner, a journey that eventually took him from delivering food around the city to running his own popular seafood joint.
Nine years ago, Koushik Kharvi joined Swiggy as a part-time delivery partner during a difficult phase of his life. Looking back, he revealed that he would hide from his friends while making deliveries because he feared they would see him as “just a delivery guy.”
In an Instagram post, Koushik shared pictures from those days, including his Swiggy ID card, after Google Photos resurfaced the memories. He recalled making deliveries and waiting at pickup counters of some of Bengaluru’s top seafood restaurants.
Today, however, Koushik is on the other side of those restaurant counters. He has gone on to build Mangalore in Bangalore, a popular seafood joint in the city.
“From waiting at pickup counters of top seafood restaurants to building one of the city’s popular seafood joints Mangalore in Bangalore,” he said in his post.
Koushik said his progress would not have been possible without the support of his customers, partners and team: “Couldn’t ask for more, and it is all because of the incredible support from our customers, partner and my whole team. Still a long way to go.”
He also thanked Swiggy for giving him an opportunity during what he described as his “tough days.”
His throwback post went viral as social media users celebrated the contrast between Koushik’s early struggles and where he is today. His journey was described as a “rags-to-riches story,” as a user rightly pointed out that his real wealth lay in the “experiences, struggle and eventual triumph” he had gained along the way.
Another comment summed up the reaction simply: “Another day of being happy for strangers on the Internet.”
His journey from delivering food to running his own restaurant was also praised as “truly an inspiration for upcoming entrepreneurs,” with one of the viewers adding, “Proud of you.”- Ends
