A 19-year-old first-year BCom student was stabbed to death following a clash near his college in K.K. Layout, Papa Reddy Palya, within the Annapoorneshwarinagar police station limits, on Wednesday (September 30, 2026) afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Yogesh, son of Papanna, a resident of Nagadevanahalli. He was studying at Mahesh PU College in Nagarbhavi. According to police, Yogesh was called to the rear side of the college around 2.30 p.m., where he got into an altercation with another group over a trivial issue.
During the clash, Bhuvan, a classmate of Yogesh, along with five others, allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon. The assailants fled the spot after the attack. Though Yogesh was rushed to True Life Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. His body has been kept at the hospital for further procedures.
Police said Bhuvan and the other five accused are absconding and efforts are on to trace them. Preliminary investigation indicates that the dispute was between known persons, contrary to the initial suspicion that outsiders were involved. The exact reason for the clash and the role of each accused are being investigated. A special team has been formed to track down the suspects.
