Bennie Boatwright's naturalization complete, PH passport ready — SBP - GMA Network
The naturalization process of Bennie Boatwright has been completed, and his Philippine passport is now ready, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) announced.
SBP executive director Erika Dy confirmed the development on Tuesday during the basketball federation’s national congress.
“We have also finally completed the naturalization of PBA champion Bennie Boatwright. The process began in 2024, and we look forward to seeing him play for Gilas soon,” Dy said.
“His addition is something to look forward to as we continue working our way to Los Angeles 2028.”
With the process completed, Boatwright could suit up for Gilas Pilipinas in the November window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers, provided there are no further hurdles to his eligibility.
The Philippines is scheduled to face Syria on November 27 and Iran on November 29 in Seremban, Malaysia.
