Bhadragiri Mart, a tribal women-led enterprise, bags State-level award

Bhadragiri Mart, an enterprise managed by local tribal women’s self-help groups (SHGs) in Bhadrachalam, has bagged the State-level Best Innovative Tourism Project/Products Award.

Within six months of its establishment, Bhadragiri Mart won the State-level award, highlighting the entrepreneurial efforts of tribal women’s SGHs with the support of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Bhadrachalam.

The grocery store has earned a reputation among devotees and tourists visiting the historic temple town for its range of wholesome and natural products known for their nutritional value and authentic flavours.

ITDA Project Officer B. Rahul received the award from Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka at a function held in Hyderabad on Saturday to mark World Tourism Day, according to ITDA sources.

The ITDA’s initiative to promote the collective efforts of tribal women’s SHGs towards financial independence and sustainable livelihoods was appreciated at the event.

The organisers of Bhadragiri Mart said nutritious millet biscuits are among its signature products. Other offerings include wild forest honey, iron-rich mahua laddus and wooden cold-pressed oils.
