The Bihar government will send 100 professors for training at prestigious global institutions, including the University of Oxford, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced on Sunday (September 13, 2026), stressing that strengthening the capabilities of teachers and education professionals is essential for improving the quality of education.

Mr. Choudhary was speaking at the inauguration of an orientation programme for 2,451 newly appointed assistant professors.

“An initiative to identify 100 professors and send them for training at prestigious global institutions, including Oxford, has started. Additionally, opportunities will be created for interaction and the sharing of experiences with teachers and experts from the world’s finest educational institutions. The Government of Bihar accords the highest priority to education, allocating 21% of the State’s total budget to the education sector,” he said.

Mr. Choudhary said, “The government’s goal is not merely to increase the number of educational institutions but to develop an education system in Bihar that is modern, high-quality, and beneficial for the students’ future.”

He explained that there is no dearth of talent among the youth of Bihar, and what is needed is access to quality education, modern resources, and proper guidance. He further said that newly appointed assistant professors can play a pivotal role in this regard.

He urged the assistant professors to discharge their duties with full commitment and dedication, expressing confidence that their contributions would further strengthen Bihar’s higher education system. He also urged them to ensure at least 75% student attendance in colleges, saying the government’s efforts to expand higher education will not yield results if students do not attend classes regularly.

He told them that they have been given the important responsibility of strengthening Bihar’s education system and shaping the future of the next generation. He pointed out that a teacher’s role is not limited to merely imparting subject knowledge but extends to shaping students’ personalities, mindsets, and futures.

The Chief Minister said Bihar has been a land of knowledge since ancient times, with educational centres like Nalanda and Vikramshila having illuminated the path of knowledge for the world.

“There is a need for Bihar to carry forward this glorious legacy by integrating modern technology, quality education, and superior educational facilities. The State government is placing special emphasis on expanding educational infrastructure. Bihar has become the first State in the country to launch 211 degree colleges in a single day. In the coming days, the State’s education system and academic infrastructure will be significantly expanded to ensure that a greater number of students have access to superior higher education facilities,” Mr. Choudhary said.

He also said 700 ‘Saraswati Vidya Niketan’ model schools are being developed in the State to strengthen school education, and efforts are underway to provide students in these schools with a conducive academic environment, along with facilities such as coaching for competitive exams like NEET and JEE, live classes, and 24/7 online tuition.
