The Sindh government has imposed a ban on setting nets to catch birds in three districts of the province in view of the bird migration and hunting season.
A notification has been issued enforcing Section 144 in Sajawal, Badin and Thatta districts.
According to the notification, there will be a complete ban on setting nets to catch quail, migratory and local birds in the three districts. The ban will also apply to natural habitats, water bodies and wetlands in these areas.
Officials said the step has been taken to protect migratory birds and to maintain ecological balance during the migration season.
As per the notification, the ban on setting nets for bird hunting will remain in force for 90 days, from September 13 to December 11, 2026. Legal action will be taken against anyone found setting nets or attempting to catch birds.
