Birthday celebration turns tragic, 3 friends killed in high-speed car crash

Three men were killed, and two others were severely injured after the car they were travelling in crashed into a culvert on a national highway near Tedesara Basti in Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgaon district. The persons who lost their lives have been identified as Abhishek Singh (35), Toshan Tiwari (26), and Prashant Dase (36).

The group of friends was out to celebrate Abhishek's birthday when the fatal incident took place. The accident occurred around 1.30 am, when the five men were travelling from Durg towards Rajnandgaon to have dinner at a dhaba (roadside eatery).

According to the police, Abhishek, an electrical and civil government contractor who worked for the Chhattisgarh government, was driving the car when it crashed near a drain. The impact was so severe that the vehicle was mangled.

While Abhishek and Toshan died on the spot, Prashant, who sustained serious injuries, succumbed during treatment at a government hospital.

The two other occupants, identified as Suraj Pandey and Chintu, were injured and are undergoing treatment.SPEEDING SUSPECTED

According to grieving relatives, Abhishek had already celebrated his birthday with his family during the day. Later at night, he went out with his friends for dinner.

The accident took place near a drain during the ensuing late-night drive. The vehicle was being driven by Abhishek.

Various news reports suggest that the accident occurred due to speeding.

On the other hand, the grieving families said that the road narrows at the spot where the incident occurred. They suspect this might have made it difficult for the driver to manoeuvre the vehicle.
