Members of the BJP Mahila Morcha staged a protest at Durgad Bail in Hubballi on Monday against the State government’s decision to increase the price of Nandini milk by a minimum of ₹8 a litre.
As part of the protest, the protesting women prepared tea on the road without using milk to highlight the impact of the price hike on ordinary households.
They also burnt posters of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, protesting against the State government’s decision.
The protesters criticised the Congress government for increasing the price of an essential commodity, saying that the move will put an additional financial burden on households, particularly women and economically weaker sections of society.
The agitation was led by BJP Mahila Morcha district president Seema Ladwa. Vijayalaxmi Thimmoli and other office-bearers participated in the protest.

The State government has increased the milk procurement price by a minimum of ₹8 a litre starting Sunday, with the increase intended to benefit dairy farmers. The BJP, however, has demanded a rollback of the hike, arguing that the State government should provide additional assistance to farmers without burdening consumers.
