BJP stages protest against Karnataka government in Belagavi

BJP workers staged a protest against the State government in Belagavi, accusing it of financial mismanagement and failure to clear pending bills of contractors.
The protest, led by BJP State vice-president Anil Benake, was held at Chennamma Circle, where party workers raised slogans against the government and displayed empty pots and placards highlighting their allegations.
The protesters attempted to take out a mock funeral procession for Chief Minister D.K. Shvakumar. However, the police intervened and stopped them. A heated exchange took place between BJP leaders and the police when the latter tried to seize the mock bier. When the protesters later attempted to burn an effigy at Chennamma Circle, the police prevented them from doing so.
Accusing the State government of running out of funds, BJP leaders questioned its announcements of grants worth several crores of rupees for various regions despite what they described as a financial crunch.
They alleged that the Chief Minister was making promises during visits to different parts of the State without ensuring the availability of funds for their implementation.
The protesters also accused the government of failing to clear pending payments to contractors, claiming that the delay had affected the execution of development works.
Raising slogans against the government, BJP workers demanded accountability for its financial commitments and alleged failure to fulfil its promises.
