A team of students from BLDEA’s V.P. Dr. P.G. Halakatti College of Engineering and Technology have developed ‘Discover Vijayapura’, a mobile application to help tourists.
The app aims to showcase the city’s rich historical heritage and culture. It provides comprehensive information, including details on both famous and lesser-known monuments in Vijayapura, customised tour itineraries, accommodation options, local cuisine, verified tourist guides, and traditional tonga rides. This will enable tourists to easily explore Vijayapura and plan their trips effectively.
The app was developed by Datta Kambagi, Yaris Nadaf, Ishwar Shatagar, and Darshan Vali, under the guidance of the head of the department, Sumangala Biradar, and the principal, Manjunath P. The app was launched on September 27 — World Tourism Day — at the historic Ibrahim Rauza in Vijayapura.
During the launch, Dr. Biradar spoke on ‘Redesigning Tourism through Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence’. She spoke of the potential to enhance the tourist experience and showcase Vijayapura’s historical and cultural heritage to a wider audience.
BLDEA management and teachers have congratulated the students, a release said.
