Bo Nix had a 1-word response when asked if ankle has impacted his play - Broncos Wire

During the Denver Broncos' game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, CBS sideline reporter Melanie Collins reported that while quarterback Bo Nix's ankle is "pretty much back to 100%," he has still experienced some swelling and stiffness this season.

"Bo Nix told us his ankle is pretty much back to 100% at this point after having the two surgeries on it," Collins said during the CBS broadcast. "He said, certainly, there is some times where he experiences some swelling and stiffness after activity or a plane ride, but in terms of being out on the field in live-game action, he said he feels as healthy as ever."

The Denver Post's Troy Renck mentioned that report to Nix in the quarterback's post-game press conference. When Renck mentioned swelling after flying, Nix shook his head as if to confirm it. Renck then asked if the ankle has been "any issue at all," if it has made Nix "more reluctant," or if it has been "inhibiting" the QB in "any way at all."

After breaking his ankle in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs, Nix underwent ankle surgery in January and a clean-up surgery in April. He has not appeared on the team's injury report this season, but he's also not rushing as often this season as he did last year. The third-year quarterback has thrown five touchdown passes against three interceptions through the team's first four games of the 2026 campaign. Denver's currently 2-2.
