Boat sinks off Negros; 22 rescued
BACOLOD CITY – Twenty-two people were rescued after a motorized boat capsized in the waters off San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Friday.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said strong winds and big waves battered the MBCA Gracelle as the boat was sailing near Sipaway Island.
The passengers reportedly panicked, causing the boat to lose its balance and take in seawater.
Responding PCG personnel and other boat operators transported the passengers to San Carlos City onboard rescue boats Poseidon and Stingray.
The passengers were given medical attention before they were allowed to go home.
