Police say a man suffered a "non-life-threatening" gunshot wound in an incident involving people known to each other in Moonyoonooka in WA's Midwest.
Significant police resources have been deployed to the area and forensic officers are gathering evidence.
Police have advised people to stay clear of the area and remain vigilant.
A man in his 30s has been taken to Geraldton Regional Hospital with a gunshot wound following what police say is a "serious incident" just east of the town in Western Australia's Midwest.
Police said they were responding to an incident early this morning involving people known to each other in Moonyoonooka on the outskirts of Geraldton, more than 400 kilometres north of Perth.
Significant police resources had been deployed to the areas of Moonyoonooka and Utakarra, they said.

St John WA said they were called to the area around 1am.
"St John WA has taken a man in his 30s to Geraldton Hospital from an incident in this location," a spokesperson said.
Police said the man's injuries were "non-life-threatening".
Two police forensic officers could be seen working at Giles Park, just off Moonynooka Yuna Road.

About 100 metres to the north, a police vehicle has blocked off Allen Road.
Witnesses have reported seeing police tactical response vehicles heading north towards the area, which includes the local airport and speedway.
102.5 ABC Perth caller Penny said she was driving south from Gingin, 77 kilometres north of Perth, around 5:30am when she saw a convoy of police vehicles heading towards the town.
"It was an [armoured police vehicle] and about six undercover LandCruisers with lights flashing," she said.
Police have advised people to stay clear of the area and remain vigilant.
"While this incident involved a firearm, there is no information to suggest an ongoing threat to the wider community," they said in a statement.
