Broncos overcome 16-point deficit in wild 30-26 comeback win over Rams - Broncos Wire

The Denver Broncos overcame a 16-point deficit in a 30-26 comeback win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football in Week 3.

After exchanging punts on their opening drives, L.A. went 63 yards on 11 plays and took a 7-0 lead after quarterback Matthew Stafford threw a five-yard touchdown pass to tight end Tyler Higbee. The Rams converted a fourth-down on that drive and the Broncos lost a timeout after coach Sean Payton challenged the conversion.

Denver kicker Wil Lutz missed a 43-yard field goal attempt on the Broncos' ensuing drive. Seven plays later, Rams kicker Harrison Mevis converted a 36-yard field goal to extend L.A.'s lead to 10-0 early in the second quarter. The Rams later added two more field goals to take a 16-0 lead into halftime.

The Broncos' offense finally came to life midway through the third quarter when quarterback Bo Nix threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Pat Bryant.

After forcing a Rams punt, the Broncos went 52 yards on seven plays on their next drive before Nix connected with tight end Nate Adkins for an eight-yard touchdown pass.

Nix then tossed a two-point conversion to Bryant to tie the game at 16-16 with just over two minutes remaining in the third quarter.

After Denver forced a punt, momentum flipped early in the fourth quarter when Nix's hand was hit as he threw, leading to an interception. Following that takeaway, L.A. added another field goal to retake a 19-16 lead with 8:40 remaining in the game. The Broncos punted on their next drive, then safety Talanoa Hufanga secured an interception and returned it 66 yards for a touchdown to give Denver a 23-19 lead with 4:49 remaining.

L.A. immediately bounced back as Stafford connected with receiver Konata Mumpfield on a 48-yard touchdown pass on the Rams' next drive to retake a 26-23 lead with 3:38 remaining. Denver then went 65 yards on 10 plays before scoring on a Nix sneak to make it 30-26 with 0:46 remaining.

L.A. drove down to the 19-yard line on their ensuing drive before Hufanga secured a victory with a game-winning interception:

On the injury front, Broncos running back RJ Harvey left to be evaluated for a possible concussion in the third quarter. Harvey returned to the game in the fourth quarter.
