BRS leaders T. Harish Rao and P. Sabitha Indra Reddy speaking to residents in Narsingi, in Hyderabad, on Saturday.
A team of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by former Minister and Deputy Floor Leader of its Legislature Party T. Harish Rao on Saturday went round the Seven Hills, Western Meadows and other colonies at Narsingi in Gandipet mandal, through which a 100-feet road is being planned.
Another former Minister and Deputy Floor Leader P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, legislators D. Sudheer Reddy and Dasoju Sravan, Rajendranagar BRS in-charge P. Karthik Reddy and others accompanied Mr. Rao during the visit. They inspected the red markings made by HMDA officials for the existing road expansion and spoke to the affected families.
Members of the families living there said their buildings were marked for demolition even though they hold every permission and occupancy certificate. During the interaction with the residents, Mr. Rao said a government was meant to work for people and not for one builder, one contractor or the private interest of a few.
In 2013, a mark-out was given in the master plan for this 100-feet road and that alignment cut through the hillock here and demolished the 400-year-old Hanuman temple standing on it. However, after the BRS came to power in 2018, it issued a new gazette, GO No. 181, which kept the 100-foot road exactly as it was - but curved it past the temple through the open land alongside.

“We changed it because there was public interest in it. A historic temple was saved, and not one household lost an inch. Now there is no public interest in the 2026 gazette. About 4,000 families in about 2,000 apartments were being put through the ordeal”, Mr. Rao said.
Mr. Rao claimed this was being done to favour ‘one Radha Realtor’, whose proximity to the powers that be is known. He said changing the master plan would require a notification, consultation and a public hearing. But none of that happened.
