BRS leaders staging a protest outside the ED office in Hyderabad on Monday.

A team of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders were detained by the police for protesting outside the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office here on Monday demanding action and clarity in the ED investigation involving Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.

Later, some of the BRS leaders including MLAs K.P. Vivekanand, Dr. K. Sanjay, MLCs Shambipur Raju, Naveen Kumar Reddy and a few others were allowed inside to meet the ED officials. While meeting Deputy Director Swathi, they stated that it was more than two years since searches were conducted on the residences and offices of Mr. Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and his family members but the investigating agency was maintaining silence.

They demanded transparency in dealing with the case and sought to know what action was taken after the searches were conducted. They also submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Director of ED on the case. They urged the officials as to what was the status of the case as searches were conducted on September 27 and 28 in 2024, and inform people on what was seized during the searches.

Mr. Vivekanand said later that the searches were conducted at 16 places on issues concerning Narayanpet-Kodangal Lift Irrigation Scheme contract, Vattinagulapally land and Kothwalguda land issues. He alleged that the case appeared to be pushed into cold storage after Mr. Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy met a corporate giant considered very close to the BJP leadership.

Meanwhile, party working president K.T. Rama Rao in a statement questioned the silence of the Central agency after aggressively pursuing the case initially.
