BSF jawan detained after firing over house dispute injures cousin in Ahmedabad

A 46-year-old BSF jawan was detained after he allegedly opened fire during a dispute over the division of an old family house in Ahmedabad, injuring his 54-year-old cousin.

The incident took place near Takshila intersection in Vastral, where three brothers had gathered to discuss the division of the property. Police said an argument broke out during the discussion, following which the Assistant Sub-Inspector, identified as Pramod Prajapati, allegedly fired his licensed pistol.

The bullet hit his cousin Rajesh Prajapati in the thigh. He was taken to a hospital by ambulance for treatment.ARGUMENT OVER HOUSE DIVISION

According to Ramol police, brothers Pramod, Pawan and Ashish had gathered to reach an agreement over the division of their old house.

Pramod and Pawan are both employed with the BSF. Cousins of the three brothers, along with members of Ashish's in-laws' family, were also present to help resolve the property dispute peacefully.

However, the discussion turned into an argument, during which Pramod allegedly pulled out his licensed pistol and fired.PISTOL SEIZED

Ramol police detained Pramod after the shooting and seized the pistol used in the incident.

Ramol police inspector VD Mori said Rajesh was taken to hospital after the bullet struck his thigh. "Pramod Prajapati, who is employed with the BSF, and the pistol used in the firing have been detained," Mori said.
