Bus Stop 103 finally has a seat, but no shelter from scorching Top End sun - ABC listen - ABC News & Headlines – Australian Broadcasting Corporation

After plenty of agitation from the local community on 105.7 ABC Darwin, Bus Stop 103 in Brinkin finally has a bus seat. 

The bus stop, which is close to a medical centre, is frequently used by elderly people and people with disabilities who were struggling with the lack of seating.  Community members banded together and raised their voices on the Breakfast program with Jess Ong. 

There were homemade signs along the highway, and a petition was started - and finally, a bright orange seat has been installed at the bus stop. 

Jess visited the new seat this week with local resident Craig Hubbard, who says the new seating is a step in the right direction but many passengers are hopeful for some sort of shelter from the harsh Top End elements.
