Cab driver booked for fleeing with passenger’s ₹60,000 after fare dispute

A cab driver was booked for reportedly taking a woman passenger to a deserted stretch near Kothwalguda on the outskirts of Shamshabad and fleeing with her bag containing ₹60,000 following a dispute over the fare on Saturday.

The 38-year-old woman, a resident of Nalgonda district, had hired the cab at Jadcherla around 6 p.m. to travel to Hyderabad.

According to her complaint, after reaching Shamshabad, the driver offered to drop her at Gachibowli for an additional ₹50. She agreed and continued the journey.

After crossing the Tondupally toll gate, the driver allegedly stopped near a medical shop on the ORR service road, saying he needed to purchase medicines.

At around 9 p.m., he allegedly drove towards a deserted stretch near Kothwalguda, where he grabbed her bag containing ₹60,000 and fled.

The woman subsequently approached the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police, who registered a case against the driver under Sections 74, 318(4) and 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
