A Canadian streamer was slapped during a livestream at a 7-Eleven store in Vietnam after two Indian men confronted him over filming them without their consent. The altercation, which began with repeated demands to stop recording, escalated into an argument before one of the men slapped him.

The streamer named John Ly, who goes by JohnWhatsGoingOn online, was recording live from Vietnam’s Saigon.

In a clip circulating on social media, John was seen filming as two men confronted him. They repeatedly objected to being recorded and asked him to stop pointing the camera at them.

Instead of ending the livestream, John continued recording and speaking to the men. The exchange became increasingly heated as the men continued to challenge him over the filming.

The situation then turned physical. One of the men approached John and slapped him while the livestream continued and John kept on hurling abuse in Hindi at the men.

The clip has since spread across X, Instagram and Reddit, where users debated what led to the altercation and whether John should have stopped filming when the men objected.

The incident has also reignited a familiar debate around IRL streaming, where creators broadcast their interactions and surroundings in real time. While public filming can capture people who happen to appear in the background, deliberately continuing to record someone who has objected can quickly turn a livestream into a confrontation.

As the video continues to circulate, the incident has divided online opinion, with viewers debating both the responsibilities of live streamers when filming strangers and the decision to respond physically to a camera being pointed at them.- Ends
