Re: "Minister defends fuel tax cuts", (BP, Oct 29).
Last week, the government announced that the price of Gasohol E20 would be reduced to 33.50 baht per litre.
Delighted, I drove into a PTT petrol station on Sunday, expecting to pay the lower price.
Alas, the pump price was 34.40 baht, almost one baht higher.
After a heated argument and some gentle persuasion from my wife, I reluctantly filled my tank. The difference cost me an additional 42 baht.
No wonder the Post's front page yesterday carried the headline "Thailand slips in the rule of law". This is the biggest banana skin I have ever encountered.
Yet this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to overpriced fuel.
