Carlos Yulo shone in his pet events to help the Philippines finish sixth in the 2026 Asian Games men's gymnastics team finals on Wednesday at the Nagoya General Gymnasium in Japan.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist starred in the floor exercise and vault as the squad, which also featured his brother Eldrew Yulo, Migs Besana, Zachary Nuñez, and Ace de Leon, finished sixth among the eight nations in the finals.

The Philippines tallied 227.359 points overall, posting its highest scores in the vault with 42.365 and floor exercise with 38.199, while defending champion China retained the gold with an impressive total points of 255.095.

Host Japan came in second with 253.826 followed by Chinese Taipei at third with a score of 239.896.

The older Yulo led the Philippines' campaign, scoring the highest point in floor exercise after posting 14.266 to beat Japanese ace Daiki Hashimoto and Chinese Hao Tian.

He also dazzled in the vault after garnering 14.56 to emerge fourth.

Although the Philippines fell short of a medal in the men’s team finals, the result offered a glimpse of what Carlos can bring in the individual finals of the floor exercise and vault—events where he won gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Carlos will also see action in the parallel bars finals while Eldrew will compete in the floor and horizontal bar finals. Besana, on the other hand, will compete in the vault finals.
