The Nedumbassery police have launched a probe into an alleged bomb threat received by the Cochin International Airport. The threat call, which turned out to be a hoax, was received at the airport’s official number around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the first information report registered by the police on Wednesday.
The unidentified caller claimed that a bomb had been planted at the airport, triggering panic among employees and passengers. The police registered the case on a complaint by a terminal manager at the airport. The case was booked under Section 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 120(o) of the Kerala Police Act (causing a communication nuisance to any person).
