CAT 2026 registration deadline extended to September 22
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have extended the registration deadline for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2026. Candidates who are yet to apply for the management entrance examination will now get another week to submit their applications. The last date to register for CAT 2026 is now revised to September 22 (5 pm) from September 15 set earlier. The official website to apply for CAT 2026 is iimcat.ac.in.
The registration window for CAT 2026 opened on August 3 at 10 am. The IIMs have clarified that the September 22 deadline will not be extended further and have advised candidates to complete the registration process well in advance to avoid a last-minute rush. CAT 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on November 29 in three sessions. The IIMs, however, have reserved the right to change the examination date and time if the situation warrants it.
Each section will assess a different set of skills required for admission to management programmes at IIMs and other participating institutions.
CAT 2026 will be conducted in around 170 cities across the country. Candidates will have the option to select five preferred cities while filling out the application form.
The organising body will try to allot candidates an examination centre in one of their preferred cities. However, in case of high demand in a particular region, candidates may be allotted a centre close to one of their preferred choices.
Once an examination centre has been allotted, candidates will not be permitted to change it. The IIMs have also said that the list of test cities may be changed at their discretion.CAT 2026 APPLICATION EDIT WINDOW
After the registration window closes, the IIMs will provide a short edit window for successfully registered candidates who have paid the applicable registration fee.
