The Inter-Ministerial Central Teams, which are in Karnataka to assess the impact of drought, continued their visits to drought-hit areas for the second day on Sunday.
The teams visited several drought-affected villages in Yadgir and Raichur districts, Gerdada and Arakere villages in Saligrama taluk of Mysuru district, and a few villages in Hassan and Davanagere districts. They interacted with farmers as well as officials concerned during their visits.
The teams will assess the drought situation and estimate the losses till October 6, following which they will submit a report to the Centre.
The State has submitted two memorandums to the Centre seeking drought relief. While the losses have been estimated at around ₹46,000 crore, Karnataka has sought nearly ₹7,500 crore in relief under the Central guidelines.
