Chad Lowe Issues Statement As Daughter Dies Aged 13 - Newsweek
Actor Chad Lowe's 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe, has died at the age of 13.
The family said they were "deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," and remembered her as a "loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance."
"She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives," the family said in a statement shared with multiple media outlets.
The family did not disclose when or where Fiona died, nor the cause of her death. Newsweek has contacted Lowe’s agent, via email outside of normal working hours, for comment.

Just last year Lowe celebrated Fiona turning 13. He shared a photo of her smiling and dressed in cowboy boots with the caption: "Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!"

Lowe, 58, is an actor, director and producer known most for his roles as Jesse McKenna, a teenager living with HIV in the drama TV series Life Goes On, and Byron Montgomery in the show Pretty Little Liars, the father of one of the main characters Aria. In 1993 Lowe won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor for his performance of McKenna.
Lowe has also guest-starred in some major series, including CSI: Miami, Bones, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and ER.
He and his wife, producer Kim Painter, 52, have two other children together: 17-year-old Mabel and 10-year-old Nixie.
Painter, who worked on the movies Enemy of the State and Ted Bundy, and co-produced Carrie Fisher’s stage show Wishful Drinking, married Lowe in 2010.
Chad Lowe's older brother Rob Lowe is also a famous actor, best known for playing Sam Seaborn in The West Wing and Chris Traeger in Parks and Recreation.
At the beginning of 2025, Lowe shared photos of the family’s home burned down, saying their hearts were "broken" before posting touching photos of his daughters seeing the devastation for the first time.
"This is what remains of 10 years of building our lives," he said alongside an image of rubble surrounding a lone fireplace.
"We have each other," he wrote. "Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers."
"Home really is where the heart is…Hold those you love close. Take care of each other. This crazy thing called ‘life’ is so damn precious."
Lowe signed off: "Love Chad, Kim, Mabel, Fiona,& Nixie Plus 3 cats and 2 fish."

A month later he shared photos of his three daughters wearing face masks as they looked at "what’s left of their home," before praising them for their "spirit and resilience."
"The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable," he said. "Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege."
