Chakriwat seeks return to Thailand for life-saving surgery - Bangkok Post

Screenshot from Chakriwat Vivacharawongse Facebook Chakriwat Vivacharawongse, an estranged son of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn, has appealed for help to return to Thailand from Malaysia for medical treatment, saying his health has deteriorated significantly.

In a video posted on his Facebook page on Monday, Dr Chakriwat said he had suffered a seizure and was experiencing weakness in his arms and legs, along with a loss of nerve control. He said he needs surgery to save his life.

Dr Chakriwat, aged 43, said in the video that the cost of brain surgery in either Malaysia or the United States was prohibitively expensive, beyond his means. He believed medical treatment in Thailand, his home country, would be more affordable.

The main purpose of the video, he said, was to seek assistance in arranging his return to Thailand so that he could receive treatment and recover.

The video was met with an outpouring of supportive messages in the comments section of his official Facebook page.

Dr Chakriwat, a medical doctor and public-health educator, has four full siblings from the marriage between his parents, His Majesty the King and his former wife, Sujarinee Vivacharawong.

His four siblings are Juthavachara Vivacharawongse and Vacharaesorn Vivacharawongse, his elder brothers; Vatcharawee Vivacharawongse, his younger brother; and Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, his sister.
