Child Molestation Suspect in West Jakarta Committed Multiple Harassments

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - MI (23), the suspect in a child molestation case in Palmerah, West Jakarta, had previously abused other victims before being arrested by the police.

“Information gathered during the investigators’ deepening inquiry shows that the suspect has committed acts of violence and harassment multiple times,” said Polda Metro Jaya’s Public Relations Head, Police Commissioner Budi Hermanto, at Polda Metro Jaya headquarters on Friday (18/9/2026).

MI has now been named a suspect in sexual harassment and is being detained at the Polda Metro Jaya detention center.

Currently, investigators are still tracing other reports that mention MI’s name as the alleged harasser.

“However, we need to verify whether there are police reports related to other criminal incidents or if perhaps such reports have yet to be submitted to the police,” Budi continued.

Therefore, Budi urged all victims or their families to report any sexual harassment committed by anyone.

This will help facilitate investigations and ensure perpetrators are caught.

MI met the victim through social media in November 2025.

They communicated via WhatsApp messages before meeting face-to-face in the Kopo area, Serang, Banten.

“Indeed, the initial acquaintance was through social media around November 2025,” said Budi.

MI was arrested on Wednesday (16/9/2026) at the location where he first met the victim.

Upon arrest, he admitted to his actions and did not resist.

Previously reported, a mother identified as A filed a report of alleged child molestation against her daughter to Polda Metro Jaya on May 12, 2026.

The victim met the perpetrator via WhatsApp messages, then met him in the Kopo area, Serang, Banten.

The harassment occurred at a hotel in Palmerah on May 10, 2026.
