China is pushing back against what it describes as “threat narratives" and “vicious competition” around artificial intelligence, saying the fear-mongering will only disrupt global governance. It comes as the debate over whether AI could cause irreversible damage, including wiping out humankind, swells in the U.S.Over the weekend, CEOs at top American AI companies called for an industry wide slowdown in development.
