Enflame’s opening day of trading came as a report from the chips-focused outlet SemiAnalysis showed that Google’s own AI-focused TPUs held key advantages over high-end Nvidia GPUs, in particular a potentially lower total cost of ownership. Other firms are also targeting Nvidia, but the world’s only $5 trillion company retains huge advantages: The semiconductor behemoth has been growing its hardware business surrounding GPUs and, as one analyst told Reuters, “it’s still core to the whole AI ecosystem.”
