Chiranjeevi's Kaaka set for Sankranthi release, makers put delay rumours to rest
The Sankranthi 2027 release plans for Chiranjeevi have become a talking point, with his upcoming film Kaaka now officially reaffirming its January 13 release date. The makers put an end to speculation about a possible postponement, while reports suggested that Chiranjeevi's long-delayed Vishwambhara was also being considered for a Sankranthi release.
The Kaaka team shared a post on X, writing, “Putting all the speculation to rest, Kaaka is releasing for Sankranthi 2027. Our much anticipated film with Megastar Chiranjeevi Garu and Bobby will arrive in cinemas worldwide on January 13, 2027. First Single Soon (sic).”
Director Bobby also addressed the speculation, writing, “No doubts, no delays. We’re coming to make this Sankranthi ours - January 13, 2027.”
The clarification comes amid reports that Vishwambhara, which has been delayed, could also be targeting Sankranthi next year. If that happens, the two Chiranjeevi films could potentially find themselves competing for the same festive window.
According to the reports doing the rounds, the Vishwambhara team is keen on a Sankranthi release, partly because of the potential impact on its OTT deal. However, this could put pressure on Kaaka to move to a later date. As of now, there is no official confirmation from the Vishwambhara team about a Sankranthi release, while Chiranjeevi is yet to announce any change to his plans.
Kaaka carries particular significance for Bobby, who previously delivered Waltair Veerayya with Chiranjeevi. The director is reportedly working towards completing the film within the required schedule so that it can arrive for Sankranthi as announced.
Meanwhile, Kaaka has already generated interest with its first glimpse. The video introduced Chiranjeevi as K Satyam, a supervisor in the aqua industry, before shifting to a flashback featuring his younger character in a more stylish and action-oriented avatar. Anaswara Rajan is also part of the film, with her character introduced as Ammulu Paapa.
Vishwambhara, directed by Mallidi Vassishta and produced by UV Creations, is a socio-fantasy adventure film backed by extensive VFX work. Trisha Krishnan, Kunal Kapoor and Ashika Ranganath are part of the cast. For now, Kaaka remains locked for January 13, 2027, while the release plans for Vishwambhara remain unclear.- EndsPublished By: T Naga Maruthi AcharyaPublished On: Sep 17, 2026 14:31 ISTALSO READ | Why every Telugu film needs to be pan-India?
