CM inaugurates Peshawar projects

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi laid the foundation stones for two major projects under the Rs200 billion Peshawar Revitalisation Plan, involving the rehabilitation of key roads and routes and construction of the Pishtakhara Chowk Underpass at a combined estimated cost of Rs9.3 billion. The Key Roads and Routes Upgradation Project, costing Rs7.2 billion, envisages the upgradation, rehabilitation, beautification and improvement of 19 major roads and routes across the provincial capital in its first phase. Phase-I(A) covers major arteries including Bacha Khan Chowk-Pajagi Ring Road, Dalazak Road, Bacha Khan Chowk-Northern Bypass Road, Ashraf Road-Circular Road, Hashtnagri Road, Faqirabad Road, Khyber Bazaar-Kohat Road (Ramdas), Cinema Road, LRH Road, Ramdas Chowk-GT Road and Lahori Chowk-Anam Sanam Chowk Road. Phase-I(B) includes Kohat Road-Bara Bridge, University Road-Canal Road, Bara Road-Safiyoon Chowk Road, Swati Phatak-Ring Road and Ring Road Achini-University Road (Spin Jamaat). The phase also includes entry points to Hayatabad, its major roads and the boundary wall. The Pishtakhara Chowk Underpass is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs2.1 billion and is scheduled to be completed within three months. Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said development schemes under the Rs200 billion Peshawar Revitalisation Plan were progressing rapidly and would be completed ahead of schedule.
