CM Vijay is rocking in the Assembly: Actor Nani praises actor's political journey
Actor Nani had a striking assessment of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor-turned-politician Vijay’s political innings, saying he is “rocking the show in the Assembly” from whatever he has seen online. Speaking at the promotional press meet of The Paradise in Chennai, Nani also reflected on Vijay’s journey from one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars to the state’s Chief Minister, saying his political appeal goes far beyond stardom and box-office success.
Speaking about Vijay's stint in politics, Nani pointed to the trust he believes the actor has built with the people of Tamil Nadu over the years. According to him, Vijay's connection with voters is rooted in a sense of familiarity that extends beyond his career as a film star.
“It's not just about his stardom or box-office success. The people of Tamil Nadu have built trust with Vijay sir over the years. They feel like they know him and feel like he is part of their family. That clearly shows the trust they have in him,” Nani said.
Nani then spoke about Vijay's performance in the Assembly, making it clear that his observation was based on what he had seen online. “From whatever I've seen online, he's rocking the show in the Assembly,” he said. The actor also expressed his hope that Vijay's tenure in government would live up to the expectations of the people who voted for him.

Vijay's political journey has been closely watched across the country since he entered electoral politics after years as one of Tamil cinema's biggest stars. His party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), contested the Tamil Nadu Assembly election in 2026, marking its first electoral battle. Vijay subsequently took charge as Chief Minister after the election victory on May 4.
Nani had also publicly congratulated Vijay after the election results were announced in May. Sharing a post on X, he drew a parallel between Vijay's victory and the electoral success of another political newcomer, writing, “First doubted and then crowned.”
“Congratulations @actorvijay sir. First doubted and then crowned. Happened at our home and now it's happening in our neighbouring home. Underdog winning is always absolute cinema (or should I say absolute politics?) :) Hope great things follow for the people of Tamil Nadu who have made their decision clear,” Nani wrote at the time. The comments came during Nani's Chennai visit to promote The Paradise, his upcoming film directed by Srikanth Odela. The actor plays Jadal, a fierce tribal leader in the film, while Raghav Juyal plays Vikram Maalik.
