CM Vijay vs Vijay Sethupathi debate: Bigg Boss Tamil 10 channel issues statement
Actor Vijay Sethupathi’s remarks on promises, accountability and leadership on Bigg Boss Tamil 10 have sparked comparisons with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. While Sethupathi did not name Vijay or any political leader, some viewers interpreted his comments as a reference to the CM’s leadership, prompting the channel to issue a clarification.
The discussion unfolded during a conversation between Sethupathi and contestant Shatiga in the latest episode. While addressing the qualities expected from a leader, the actor spoke about the importance of standing by one’s promises and facing difficult situations rather than avoiding responsibility when challenges arise. Although the conversation was part of the contestants’ interactions within the Bigg Boss format, some viewers began connecting the remarks to current political developments.
The channel has now addressed the issue through a statement shared on X, making it clear that the conversations featured on the reality show should not be taken as commentary on people or situations outside the programme.
The statement said, “The situations, conversations, expressions and interactions featured in the programme form part of its evolving narrative and are to be understood in the context in which they occur within the show. No reference or expression in the programme should be construed as representing, endorsing or commenting upon any person, organisation, institution, ideology or circumstance outside the context of the programme. Any interpretation or association beyond the programme and its intended entertainment context is neither intended nor endorsed.”
The speculation gained momentum because of Vijay’s political position. Vijay took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10, 2026, while Bigg Boss Tamil 10, hosted by Vijay Sethupathi, premiered on September 6. Some social media users subsequently interpreted the host’s comments as a possible political message and began referring to the episode as a “CM Vijay vs Vijay Sethupathi” controversy.
There is, however, no direct reference to Vijay in Sethupathi’s conversation. The actor did not name the Chief Minister, his political party or any government while speaking about leadership on the show. The political interpretation has primarily come from viewers and social media discussions surrounding the episode.
The clarification comes as the current season experiments with a new format, including the introduction of the “Democracy Room”, which has added discussions around leadership, roles and decision-making to the show’s proceedings. Sethupathi’s weekend episodes have consequently included conversations that extend beyond individual tasks and nominations, giving contestants space to discuss their behaviour and responsibilities inside the house.
The controversy has also brought renewed attention to Sethupathi’s equation with Vijay. The two actors previously shared the screen in Master(2021), in which Sethupathi played the antagonist opposite Vijay. Sethupathi has also publicly expressed his admiration for Vijay and has addressed him as “Anna” on several occasions. Against that backdrop, a section of fans has rejected the idea that the remarks were intended as a dig at the Chief Minister.- EndsPublished By: T Naga Maruthi AcharyaPublished On: Sep 15, 2026 21:31 ISTALSO READ | Vijay Sethupathi Bigg Boss Remarks Spark Row Amid Speculation Of Political Taunt
