A programme titled “Community Education Dialogue” was held at Ambedkar Bhavan in Varuna village on the outskirts of Mysuru on Thursday to recognise and strengthen women’s leadership in the public education system.

A discussion on the ‘Strength of an Empowered Women’s Society’ at the programme focused on issues including the role of women in ensuring equal opportunities for girls and boys within their families.

According to the organisers, the discussion also covered the role of women in speaking up confidently on community issues and participating in decision-making, ways to strengthen women’s leadership in SDMCs, Gram Panchayats and other local forums, and the changes women leaders seek to bring about in education at the community level.

This was followed by the identification of best practices and the felicitation of women leaders who have made significant contributions to education at the community level.

The programme was organised by V. Help Rural Development Organisation under the Shikshagraha Movement, in collaboration with Makkala Jagruthi, Mantra4Change, Quest Alliance, and Shikshalokam.

More than 50 women leaders, Shikshana Chavadi co-ordinators, young women, community members and officials participated in the dialogue.
