Confusion and chaos marked last 100 days, says BJP

Describing the Congress rule under Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar in its first 100 days as one marked by chaos and confusion, the Opposition BJP questioned the logic of holding celebrations to mark the occasion.
Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru on Friday, Leader of the Opposition R. Ashok alleged that though the Chief Minister had completed 100 days in office, hardly three days had been spent on the development of the State because of the confusion gripping the dispensation. He maintained that the Chief Minister had been running from temple to temple, unable to resolve the confusion.
Alleging that the Chief Minister came across as a “real estate agent” to farmers, he said: “Apart from trying to take away portions of land from Lalbagh, Sankey Tank, Hebbal Lake, 9,000 acres at Bidadi and 3,000 acres at Anekal, the Chief Minister has done nothing for the development of the State. Four months into the drought, no one has been given relief.”
He maintained that celebrations were held to mark the 100 days even though the Chief Minister had “failed every test.”
He claimed that after the Congress government came to power, more than 2,500 farmers had committed suicide and 12 people had died because of potholes in Bengaluru. “Closing a pothole costs ₹1 lakh, of which 75% goes into the pockets of Congress leaders. There was a plan to give 5% of park land for real estate development. The government even called industrialist Gautam Adani and was ready to hand over parks, but later made a U-turn following public opposition. On Cauvery water sharing, Karnataka has suffered a setback. Every court and authority has ordered that water be released,” he alleged.
“The Congress is now renaming schemes implemented during the BJP tenure. During our dispensation, title deeds were given to one lakh people. They have now renamed it as Land Rights. During the BJP tenure, tractors were provided to farmers for ploughing. Now, that too has been given a new name. Sakala Services have been renamed as Praja Seve and a department has been opened for it. But they do not even have money to serve tea and coffee there,” he said.
