Congress picks Aradhana Mishra as UP chief ahead of polls
The Congress on Friday appointed Aradhana Mishra Mona as the new president of its Uttar Pradesh unit, replacing Ajay Rai, as the party recalibrates its organisation months ahead of the state Assembly elections.
The party also appointed Saharanpur MP Imran Masood as the working president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, with immediate effect.
Mona, the 52-year-old three-time MLA from Rampur Khas, replaces senior Congress leader Ajay Rai. She has served as the Congress Legislature Party leader in the UP Assembly.
Apart from Mishra and Masood, the party appointed Devinder Nishad and Alok Prasad as senior vice presidents of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee. The Congress also named Chaudhary Virendra Singh as the Leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in Uttar Pradesh. - Ends
