Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Wednesday said the Congress will continue with the present guarantee schemes in the State after returning to power in the 2028 Assembly elections.
Speaking after launching a series of developmental works in Kollegal and Hanur Assembly constituencies at Kollegal in Chamarajanagar district near here, Mr. Shivakumar also remarked that if some parties are dreaming of coming to power, it is nothing, but a “daydream”.
With the strength and inspiration of the people as well as the development initiatives of the government, the Congress will return to power in the next Assembly elections, he said.
He said the Congress government had improved the standard of living of people by implementing the guarantee schemes. “We have set a target of distributing 50,000 sites in every district,” he said.
Pointing out that he had also announced free bus passes for all the students in the State after becoming the Chief Minister, Mr. Shivakumar said that he had instructed MLAs and Ministers to visit every district, taluk, hobli, and gram panchayat in the State on the first and third Saturdays.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi came to Chamarajanagar from Tamil Nadu while leading the Bharat Jodo yatra, Mr. Shivakumar recalled and said people created history by electing Congress MLAs wherever he walked.
