Continuous learning key to staying relevant in AI era, says Sribharat

Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat has stressed the need for young people to continuously upgrade their skills and adapt to changing technologies, saying the ability to learn would be a key safeguard for their future in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) era.
He made the remarks while interacting with students of Prism Degree and PG College in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. He said the easy availability of information through AI tools meant that students should not restrict themselves to expertise in a single subject. They should instead develop the ability to learn continuously and adapt to changing workplace requirements.
Mr. Sribharat said a strong network of IT companies, start-ups, skilled professionals and supporting businesses would be crucial to developing Visakhapatnam into a major technology hub. Creating more opportunities locally, he said, could encourage IT professionals and experienced technology specialists from North Andhra working elsewhere in India and abroad to return to the city.
He identified data centres, cloud computing and AI as potential areas of growth, citing Visakhapatnam’s strategic location and connectivity to international submarine internet cable networks. Such investments, he said, could support allied sectors such as fintech, software and digital services and create employment and entrepreneurial opportunities locally.
On water security, Mr. Sribharat said resources and supply infrastructure should be strengthened ahead of future demand. He referred to the potential utilisation of Godavari water and measures through the Polavaram Project to augment water availability, while stressing the need for efficient water-resource management and environmental protection.
He also urged students to use technology not merely to secure employment but to identify problems and develop solutions, and encouraged them to cultivate a continuous learning mindset.
