A woman and her husband were injured in an acid attack in Liaquatabad on Friday, with police saying an unidentified masked man threw acid at the couple before fleeing through the area's narrow streets.
According to police, the incident occurred near Liaquatabad No 5 at around 9.45am when 28-year-old Areej was travelling on a motorcycle with her husband, Owais, to their office on Sharae Faisal.
Police said an unidentified man, who was already waiting at a street corner and wearing a mask to conceal his identity, threw acid at Areej and fled on foot through the narrow lanes.
The woman suffered burns to her neck and back, while her husband sustained acid splashes on the fingers of his left hand and leg.
Areej, a mother of two, and her husband were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment. Police said both were out of danger.
Following the incident, police reached the scene and collected available evidence. Investigators are also mapping the routes through which the suspect fled and attempting to obtain CCTV footage from the area to establish his identity and gather further information.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
