Court refuses interim protection to former MLA Narendra Pawar in rape case

A Bhiwandi Sessions Court on Wednesday (September 23, 2026) has declined to grant interim protection to former MLA Narendra Baburao Pawar in a rape case registered at Padgha police station, while keeping his anticipatory bail application pending for further hearing.
Additional Sessions Judge N.K. Karande observed that the allegations against Mr. Pawar were serious and said it was necessary to hear the investigating officer as well as the complainant before considering interim relief. The court issued notices to them and sought their responses on September 24.
A complaint has been registered at Padgha police station against Mr Pawar and other accused under Sections 64(1), 70(1), 351(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act. Mr. Pawar subsequently approached the court seeking anticipatory bail.
The prosecution alleged that the complainant, who was having a dispute with her husband, had approached Mr. Pawar seeking his help in resolving the matter. Mr. Pawar allegedly called her to Tilak Chowk in Kalyan, from where she was taken in a car driven by Shailesh Patil to a farmhouse.
The court noted that in the complaint the survivor had said that Mr. Pawar and Mr. Patil raped her and she was was later dropped near her residence, following which she informed acquaintances about the incident and an FIR was lodged.
The court has sought responses from the investigating officer, the assistant public prosecutor and the complainant, and posted the matter for further hearing on September 24.Β
